The gun is complete with one magazine having blue finish and stamped with an "L" on the top of the floor plate lip. Manufacturers include Colt, Remington Rand and Ithaca. USGI Surplus Model 19A1 pistols for sale at Fernwood Armory. I do see what appear to be withness marks from. There are no rebuild marks that I can see but the FJA looks double struck. The front and rear sights have been altered by some filing and remnants of yellow highlight paint, most of which has worn away. Manufacturers include Springfield Armory, Remington and Smith Corona. I recently purchased this 1911A1, all the markings seem very sharp and clear but I have reviewed Clausons book and suspect the frame is a Remington Rand while the slide is an Ithica. The top of the slide is stamped with a "P" proof mark ahead of the rear sight.
REMINGTON RAND 1911A1 VIETNAM REBUILD SERIAL NUMBER
The slide has a non-matching serial number "882042" stamped under the firing pin retainer. The barrel is blue and stamped "P" on the left side of the barrel lug, with the Flannery "F" stamped on the right side indicating barrel replacement at some point. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Colt 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line block, the Rampant Colt trademark and "COLT'S PT.F.A. The price of all three samples stayed in a narrow range of 1625 to 1850, with additional 5. It was worn but it also went 1625, not much cheaper. Army Ordnance final inspection mark "G.H.D." below the slide stop and a "P" proof mark is stamped near the magazine release button. There was yet another Remington Rand in the session. "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY" is roll stamped in front of the slide stop hole. 1152389" roll-stamped in two lines behind the slide stop hole. The right side of the frame has the Ordnance escutcheon stamped behind the grip panel with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/No. Manufactured by Colt Firearms in the later part of 1943.
